The Perfect Barbie (grade please)

Lately I have been wearing my gender role lens to search for a topic for my blog. I found some interesting articles and t.v. shows. However the magazines and Oprah show struck my mind about how low women gender roles are. Many teen girls look through magazines such as Seventeen and Cosmo to pass time. However, has anyone really scanned the content in those magazines? Some of those articles are just criticizing girls alone. The article I read titled "20 Things a Guy Looks for in Girls." It was all about "you can't be to skinny but you can't have some rolls," how you need to be "flawless" and "that blond is the way to go". Those were the top things a girl must have to get the perfect guy. This is sort of like a Perfect Barbie scenario. Where if the girl is blond, beach tan, and has a curvy body; they will have a man such as Chace Crawford. This is just wrong. A girl shouldn't be judged on how she looks. So why write an article about?
Now put your gender role lens on and lets take a double look at this article. When you look upon this article with those glasses, it screams patriarchal society at me. Saying that women need to be a Barbie just to get a man. Now a days, men just need to flex a muscle and girls are all over them. It's crazy! This is criticizing how much work women put in just to get a guy that will possibly screw them over. When they can be their selves and I am quite sure get a loyal boy in their life.
Another scenario is when I was watching Oprah today. She was interviewing nuns and questioning them about their lives. She came upon the question "So are you a virgin and how does this affect your love life?" Well the nuns said for most part their boyfriends' were very supportive. However when you take this back to the article, I am sure no man would want to date a women who shows no skin or is "married" to Jesus. It shows how women in gender roles are based upon just looks. If you think about Megan Fox, guys basically only want her for her body and luscious lips. I'm sure, her being the hottest girl in American doesn't help either. This to me is insane. To know that girls' gender roles are lower then male gender roles makes me think; what is it that girls do to make themselves much lower than males? The answer is being needy. If a woman didn't have the need for a guys' attention then she wouldn't be trying as hard as she is to look good and attempt to be flawless.

my christmas gift!

Christmas is the time where people receive presents and cook cookies for Santa. Well I would have to say that this year, Christmas has been really different. Not getting really expensive stuff or everything I wanted on my list was not at all a disappointment. I simply got a gift that was priceless, getting to see my family and my best friend, dad. My family and father are one of a kind. From playing Apples to Apples at four in the morning or jamming out to rockband, we are the family everyone wishes they had. Not being about to see them for about 10 years, just killed. However it killed even more not being able to see my dad for 6 months. He is my best friend and the best of the best dads. Seeing him walk around these days is a miracle and a lifetime idol for me. To tell you the truth I am quite surprised my father is still around, no offense to ya dad. However, if I recall my dad, Thomas Foote Sr., barley survived from a cardiac arrest.(his heart stopped for 20 minutes!!!!) He also went through a very tough divorce; not that it was hard to leave but lets just say in simple words my monster in law was a huge bitch. Last but not least, my father rarely ever gets to see his own kids. This has to be a heart breaker for him and I still have not figured out how he does it. Getting to see my dad, who has basically went through 50 years of a lifetime in one year, was one of the best presents I could ever receive. Getting to see him be happy again and choose to not let the small things interfere with his life made me think how much a hero he is to me.
Okay, enough about my dad. Receiving this special gift may not tell you what kind of person I am, but if you think about it hard enough I am sure you can figure it out. I may not be one of those teenagers who cares about having a horseshoe on my ass or having the best of the best. I am simply a girl who just cares about her family and enjoys life as it comes. So just forget about having to have the best and most expensive stuff, because the only thing that matters is the relationship with your family. You never know when you might receive a surprise as great as mine!

Edward........

"If you are in love with someone, you can't see any flaw in the other person." Why is it that whenever girls or even women of the 21st century hear this quote you automatically can't get their attention or maybe you hear them whispering.... Edward marry me? Well, okay maybe you have never heard those exact words but I on the other hand have. It was last year right when the Twilight movie trailer came out. Kaitlyn and I wanted to cry when we saw it for the first time. This is when it all started. Instead of Kaitlyn and I going out to a party that everyone would for sure be talking about Monday at school, we would go sit on the rocks reading Twilight needing to finish it. Every now and then I would let out a sigh thinking why Edward can't be real. Or Kaitlyn would shout out Edward, you don't need Bella she's totally a fake, take me instead. This was our life until we saw the movie. Let me just say we hypervenalated when we walked into the movie theatre. This also reminds me of when my friends and I were at a concert saying how the lead singer looks like Edward Cullen....the guys behind us just laugh super hard and move away from us. I wonder what was going through their head or the time where I was watching Hannah Montana saying to Lilly not to set her up with any guys unless its Edward. Now that I think about it, I ask myself why do us, girls, fantasize about something that will never ever come into our life. I have come up with the answer; we fantasize about have Edward in our lives because guys these days are totaly pervs or jerks. Where as Edward and Jacob are the perfect guy always being cute to Bella. I think that we satisfy ourselves by reading Twilight Saga so we fantasize about Edward or Jacob becoming our boyfriends that we will keep dreaming about. Now, New Moon, every time this comes on I cant breathe. Edward looking spiffer than ever and Bella looking pretty as can be. Sometimes I wish I can just hop right into the T.V. and jump on top of Edward. This also gets me thinking what has this world come to? Don't ya think the guys are getting annoyed about how much they suck compared to Edward and that we wished they sparkled in the light. Ohhhh...Edwardd...

just my luck!

Okay. Today I have found out I have the worst of luck, no joke. A few days ago, my car started smoking on the way to the barn, and my dad had to come and get my brother and I. Then that same exact day my frickn horse kicked me. Seriously, what is wrong with me life?!?! Now I got stuck at the barn for 3 hours and I had a bunch of hw. ahhhh!!!! So my brother thought it was the battery but nooooo, it was something that a smarty pants had to fix, which was obivisouly not there. So my neighbor had to come and get me. Let me remind you this is on a school night where i have homework, haven't eaten since 11:30 and its 8:30. Aren't you jsut jealous of my life. Ohh and to top it off, my brother and I were wrestling and I fell to the ground and got cuts everywhere. wow, stupid brother. I just want to go somewhere with jsut my friends and cat, and get away from all this bad luck. I mean, I haven't done anything to recieve karma, anything at all. If only there was a moment tomorrow where i can pay it forward to someone to get good karma for whatever I have done!!!!
